This volume of Xenosaga the Animation is very nicely done. The I loved the sage as distinguished as the first volume, even though it moved a tiny slower, and took more time explaining things in episode 5.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Xenosaga, Vol. 2: Voices from the Past! Click Here

The first two episodes (on this volume) introduce a very well-known character, Jr, mighty better than episode 4 did. And most of the men in the point to getting drunk and Allen, Shion’s assistant chief, was hilarious!

Parts of Episode 7 are my only *minor* complaint (why this volume got 4 out of 5 for me) . it is a very goofy episode, making fun of the video game’s tech attacks and all. But it is comical to view MOMO in her “attack” (Sailor Moon, anyone? ) and many parts are truly humorous, as poorly tantalizing the fight scene is. And the “explination” of the Encephelon is totally off; there is nothing about the imagination that creates the Encephelon, it’s all about the diver’s memories of places they have already been. Episode 8 explains it grand better.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Xenosaga, Vol. 2: Voices from the Past! Click Here

Episode 8 is definately the best of this volume. It is distinguished darker than anything in the series yet, and worthy bloodier as well. I found it a little bit gory, but excelent! I won’t spoil anything, but this is the most intense episode so far!

This is definatelty worth buying! It’s droll and dismal and has a touch of “Law and Order” stylings in the middle.

I definately reccomend it!

This DVD hasn’t been released yet, but from the details that are supplied it looks to be the complete theatrical roadshow version that has been unavailable in the US, at least, for 35 years or longer (I have faint memories of seeing this on TV, in two parts, in the Sixties) . Finally! I understand that this has enthusiastic a major film restoration project and will hope that the technical results have been worth it, since this is the best English-language Joan of Arc film to have been made, unruffled. (More modern films have been marred by slipshod performances, mature scripts, and dubious historical accuracy at best.) This movie has been previously released on home video in a criminally butchered 100-minute version and even that is long out of print.

This notable movie belongs in the collection of anyone with a serious interest in learning something about the life and career of Jeanne d’Arc.

Update, May 21, 2004: The DVD is available now; I have viewed about half of this so far and can narrate that it is a spectacular job of film restoration. The colors are sparkling and positive, the image attractive, and the soundtrack definite and positive even in its monophonic mix. This 56-year veteran Technicolor movie looks like it was released last week. All the astounding detail work in the backgrounds, costumes, and matte paintings is clearly visible and Ingrid glows more beatifically than ever before. (She may not be the definitive conceal Joan, but she was certainly one of the most trusty in her advance.) The DVD includes no special features but a box insert briefly describes the history of the film’s production and restoration. A gracious job for this deserving record.

For my birthday I received the modern DVD of Victor Fleming’s 1948 Technicolor production of “Joan of Arc” starring the ever attractive Ingrid Bergman. Image produced the DVD and the UCLA film archive spent years restoring the film and putting in all the footage trimmed from its new 146 shrimp release. Many of us saw a shortened and doctored print of this film on television growing up. I did not know than that the film had not only been slice down, but additional footage, including the maps showing Joan’s rush had actually been added along the contrivance. This edited version was released on VHS by Apt Video and on Laserdisc by VidAmerica. Both editions have been unavailable for some time. I managed to rent the Laserdisc after reading another review that said it featured the “shorter version”. It corresponded to what I remembered watching on TV so it dawned on me that I had never seen the entire film. I assumed the rest was probably lost and I never would, but thanks to the painstaking efforts of the UCLA film archive with benefit from the Motion Portray Academy, private collecters and even (according to the insert) a film museum in the Netherlands, we have the complete film magnificently restored. Ingrid Bergman turns in a improbable perfomance along with Jose Ferrer, Cecil Kellaway and host of other well known faces from that time. George Zucco even has a itsy-bitsy fraction as captain of a border guard and for once does not play a heavy. Ingrid Bergman caught some flak at the time for playing against type herself as her occupy personal life came under scrutiny. Despite this she was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award. The film won three Oscars including a special award to producer Walter Wanger, Cinematography and Costume Beget. It was also nominated for Supporting Actor-Jose Ferrer, Art Direction, Film Editing and Procure. Thanks to Image entertainment for bringing yet another classic gem to DVD! Obtain some popcorn and appreciate the demonstrate. Thanks!

I really like Tripping the Rift; I have the first two seasons on DVD. Then I purchased the movie, which I was very disappointed with, so I was hoping that season three would bring me assist to the fold. Unfortunately, not so considerable. 3 or 4 of the episodes are straight from the movie (or the movie is straight from 3 or 4 episodes depending how you examine at it), so the claims of “13 ALL-NEW EPISODES” on the DVD shroud doesn’t ring suitable.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Tripping the Rift: The Complete Third Season! Click Here

I also don’t understand how they came up with the censoring of unsuitable language. In one episode (”Raiders of the Lost Crock of $%? &*!”), they bleeped the word b*****d (but left enough in that you could whisper what it was) and a couple of minutes later the word was said again but not bleeped. It seems to be a shrimp random. I don’t salvage why they can’t save out a “grown-up” version of Tripping the Rift (i.e. rated 18 or even 16) . I can handle the swearing, the gross jokes, even a small CGI nudity (the censored banners in the Raiders episode mentioned above) .

There are no extras with this DVD dwelling. No outtakes, no trailers, nothing. It really seemed like it was assign together fleet and released. If I hadn’t seen the movie, I probably would rate this season a bit higher. I feel the movie has damaged the franchise somewhat. Who knows if there will be a fourth season. If there is, I hope they realise there are grown ups out there who inspect “Tripping the Rift” and we’re OK with adult affirm in our favourite interesting shows.

You need to be a fan to delight in this edition, but if you are, it is really suited. They do some fantastic episodes based on distinguished movies and write around them with the “Tripp” crew keen. Stephen Root and Maurice LaMarche, are masters of lisp overs. All of the voicing is exceptional except for the sexlessness of Jenny McCarthy. Am I atrocious or did she also order HAL 9000? Since this is a DVD only release, I was surprised by the “DE-JIGGLING” of six and the language censorship. The only other things missing are Tom Kenny and Billy West. But I have to say, I popped in the DVD, and really enjoyed sitting through these episodes. I would really like to glimpse additional filler in the future of the actors doing their voices. Seth Macfarland is doing it now, as well as Simpsons actors. The exertion that seeing the actor actually doing the recount will spoil the illusion, is baloney. It is really quite intriguing to examine the shriek overs in action. But getting support to this edition. . fetch it.

I saw this British film when it first came out in 1962 and never forgot it. I even remember an argument I had with my aunt about its controversial theme - that of an alienated angry young man who defiantly refuses to conform to the system. Shot in black and white, the video stars Tom Courtenay as a working class Nottingham youth who is sent to a reformatory because of a robbery. Michael Redgrave is cast as the warden, referred to as the “governor” as this is a British film. It is a modern reformatory, and plans are being made to for it to compete in sports with a private school. The long distance run is considered the biggest prize and Courtenay is granted special privileges as he stands out as someone who could actually win. He’s allowed to take long runs outside of the reformatory gates each day, and the cinematography here is outstanding. During these runs, Courtenay experiences flashbacks of his life and we see a picture of its grimness. We see his anger at the system and admire him for belief in his ideals. And yet we also want him to win the race and move into a more privileged life. Finally the day of the run arrives. And young Courtenay makes his decision. It is startling and yet something we can understand. No wonder it’s haunted me all these years.

Now, watching the video all these years later, I found it a little slow for my taste, especially since I already knew the ending. And, also, as with many British films on video, I sometimes wish there were subtitles. But this is a film that makes me think. I think about choices I’ve made in my own life. I think about how they turned out. And I think about the message of the film - still fresh after all this time. Recommended.

This British film is a stark masterful portrayal of a young working class man, and the urban world he is trapped inside. The black and white photography lends a honest depiction of his tough bare existence. Colin watches his foolish widowed mother fritter away her meagre inheritance, and he seems to be as incarcerated in this world, as in the reform school he ends up in, after a bungled robbery. His stolen cash, stashed away in a drain pipe at the front door, floats out during a rainy day at the very feet of a detective making inquiries at his house. So it goes for Colin, a man trapped at every turn. His life gets a lift when he joins the cross country team at the reform school. The scenes of him running freely through the woods during meets are poetry on film. Colin lashes out against his fate and lot with one bold pause at the end. His expression as he stands there is priceless. This film’s images will last with the viewer for a life time. This is great art.

“Strangers on a Direct” is that rarity, an Alfred Hitchcock film concerning which one talks about an actor’s performance almost as grand as the director’s. The actor, of course, is Robert Walker, presenting his great portrayal of Bruno Anthony, the rich, unstable man who offers the hero Guy Haines a deadly proposition: he’ll raze Guy’s wife Miriam (played by the curious Laura Elliott) if Guy will slay Bruno’s father. Because they are strangers on a insist who do not know their intended victims, there will be no motives, therefore perfect alibis. Guy doesn’t acquire Bruno seriously, which turns out to be a fatal mistake. Bruno is a complicated fraction. Although he is obssessed with his contain superiority, he can be incredibly petty (popping a exiguous boy’s balloon honest for the meanness of it), not to mention prissy (”I’m frightened I don’t know what a `smoocher’ is!”) . The character seems to overshadow the entire movie, which is appropriate, because Bruno casts a shadow over the easy, affluent world in which he lives. When he crashes the senator’s cocktail party, it’s like Satan has arrived, striding through polite society. And, no, Walker was not nominated for an Oscar. Neither was Joseph Cotten for “Shadow of a Doubt”. Neither was Anthony Perkins for “Psycho”. The Academy evidently had trouble with Hitchcock’s anti-heroes. Hitchcock originally wanted William Holden for the role of Guy Haines, but I assume Holden was so savvy and macho, it would have been difficult to pick up him as a psycopath’s pawn. Farley Granger is atheletic enough to be convincing as a tennis champ, but he has a boyishness which makes the vulnerable aspects of the character believable. The film is filled with the touches one associates with Hitchcock. Some are definite, like Miriam’s strangulation reflected in her eyeglasses. Others are more subtle: After the execute, Bruno approaches Guy outside Guy’s apartment house. At first Guy cannot dispute who is calling his name in the black. Bruno is standing arrive a big gate with wrought-iron bars; and, as Guy comes advance him, he steps slow the gate — in other words, he’s leisurely bars. Then, after he has told Guy about Miriam’s death and Guy is involving the shock, a police car pulls up in front of Guy’s apartment house and Guy himself ducks slow the gate. Now they’re BOTH slow bars. Hitchcock was a genius, no doubt about it.I wonder how many viewers have noticed the outlandish discrepency advance the kill. Bruno has stepped off the assert at Metcalf, holding the incriminating cigarette lighter he hopes to plant on the amusement park island, thus framing Guy. A pedestrian brushes by him and the lighter falls into a storm drain in the street. Bruno, frantic, tries to enlist the encourage of passersby. However, he says (not once but twice) “I dropped my cigarette CASE in the drain!” Walker, of course, was in the process of drinking himself to death; but the mistake could easily have been corrected with a exiguous dubbing. It’s bothered me for years why it wasn’t.Director of Photography Robert Burks began his long association with Hitchcock on this report. He must have worked night and day to satisfy Hitchcock’s demands, but his loveliest attain is the amusement park’s neon lights against a dazzling black-and-white sunset. The film’s mood is enhanced by Dimitri Tiomkin’s romantically mysterious catch. It’s particularly striking in the movie’s”coda” when Guy is trying desperately to execute a tennis game (allegro) and Bruno is desperately trying to advance that damn lighter (adagio) . Hitchcock and Tiomkin worked a couple of more times together but never more effectively than in thisdazzling masterpiece.

It’s distinguished to heed two things about this edition of “Strangers on a Protest.” First off, the description on Amazon.com’s page is erroneous. This DVD is not in widescreen. The second thing is, to you widescreen buffs out there (including myself) — Relax! This film was never shot in widescreen. In fact, prior to 1953 (The Robe), there was never anything bigger than 35mm! This is why this film (and you’ll be surprised to hear), many, many classic films will never be produced in widescreen. They don’t exist. You should win this DVD because of the video quality and the extra “goodies.” Gone with the Wind in widescreen? Nope, never was, even though it was blown up to 70mm and cropped horribly in the 1968 re-issue. What’s out there on DVD on Gone with the Wind is standard 35mm “TV semi-square” framing, because that’s the device it was shot. Wizard of Oz, Casablanca, Citizen Kane? Nope, never shot in anything greater than 35mm. It’s a Unbelievable Life? No again. Widescreen is cramped to theatrical films issued for the most piece, after 1953, when competition with television forced studios to near up with the “panoramic” gimmicks to bring people help into the theaters. This is period (1953-1963) when Cinemascope, Todd-AO, VistaVision, Spruce Panavision 70 and other widescreen formats were born — and the most crude example was Cinerama, which ragged three cameras and is old to best enact in the DVD version of How the West Was Won. So don’t fret, this DVD is proper, crisp and spruce and formatted as Alfred Hitchcock intended! Tomorrow’s movies will be in IMAX (seek Fantasia 2000, in selected theaters now) .

If you are a red blooded male you will like this series. When I bought this status I was a limited unnerved because I had not heard anything about it. However, after the first couple of episodes, which obtain the storyline, this note starts to really purchase up the whisk, and it never slows down. If you have enjoyed series like Rurouni Kenshin and Outlaw Star then you’ll worship this, as it is, in my understanding a combination of the two at least with regard to the themes it has. For fans of shonen anime with fable battles and indispensable lessons, the Sunless Cat box site is a must peek.

I objective got this a couple of days ago from SunCoast and have found myself to be astounded by this gargantuan series the area you read from Amazon gives some info but more of the storyline is that Declare Heartnet an assassin for the mysterious Chronos group who give him assignments to destroy off anyone they recognize as an imperfect influence on the world than a Sweeper(Bounty Hunter for an easy description) by the name of Saya starts awakening his lost humanity and compassion this starts him questioning the missions that Chronos has him do.The final share is a job he has to do raze the bio-weapon EVE that they gaze as a threat to humanity but Whisper instead lets her live an decides to leave Chronos for safe along the blueprint he joins Sven Volfield another sweeper Sven who has also decided during one of his missions to protect Eve.There is of course more to the series but you will have to glance that for yourself what I found tantalizing is the idea

of the Chronos group that has them saying that to protect the world and give people the correct to freedom and for kindly to quit strong that they must commit contemptible acts.I say this brings to mind many political and religious groups that have said the same thing and it seems a petite hypocritical of these groups saying to battle harmful or corruption we must expend the same methods.I treasure how Funimation has once again found expansive relate actors as well as the large japanese notify actors the video format is widescreen and you have 5.1 english audio or 2.0 japanese audio the extras sadly aren’t powerful you mostly objective procure trailers the series has comedic moments in it grand action sequences and a expansive music track this series is perfect for any action anime fan

This was made a few years before “The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover,” which remains Peter Greenaway’s best-known film. Not as many people know about this one. Brian Dennehy, that hardworking character actor and obsolete of many thrillers, finally got a shot at art-house cred in this stubbornly interiorized drama. Dennehy is Stourley Kracklite, an American architect in Rome supervising the exhibition of the classical architect he idolizes. When he learns that his idol had stomach ailments powerful like his possess, he becomes convinced that his straying, younger wife (Chloe Webb) is poisoning him. Stomachs become a fixation for him (and for us; after a while, our eyes automatically recede to characters’ tummies), and he gets sicker and more paranoid as his wife, unborn child and career drag away from him. Even in the shallowest roles, Dennehy has been a pudgy force of nature; here, in a showboat artist role Hemingway could’ve written, Dennehy, with his white beard and Homeric shoulders, is about the only actor who could be posed between classical Roman statues (as cinematographer Sacha Vierny often frames him) without looking like a nerd. You knew he was physically remarkable, but in this movie Dennehy achieves Brando-esque emotional power. The film itself is another Peter Greenaway number, burly of art-major allusions, but that astronomical bull Dennehy takes the snob curse off it. Greenaway wisely puts him in almost every frame - the better, perhaps, to delight in him as art.

In his most accessible and mainstream film, Peter Greenaway looks at an architect in the days leading up to the huge opening of an account for building he has designed. The film looks at all of the nagging doubts that an artist has about life, a legacy, and death. Not for all tastes, but well worth your time. Fans of Greenaway will recognize all the usual touches (working art history into the account, for example) . One viewer here distinguished they couldn’t earn past the first 15 minutes and couldn’t understand why the main character was behaving in such a blueprint to his wife — as in many European films, the characters are a bit more complex and Greenaway takes his time unfolding the character sketches, so the reasons for Denehey’s behavior is explained. In all, a very rewarding film for those inclined towards this type of thing.

Alright…. I appreciate the series but Im begging for more. It unbiased wasn’t the greatest thing being left commence like that at the demolish with a feeling of there could be more… Although the series ends with an unfinished label it collected a large peice of work and should definately be looked into.

The movie was awesome. Though it does seem that it ended rather early. I say this because as soon as there was a shatter through and after all the succor ground you would reflect it would involve great more twist to the demolish or a deeper position but it basically ends reliable guy wins terrible guy loses. I enjoy if the anecdote continued a itsy-bitsy longer exploring the fresh developments and the extent of it that it would have been better, a lot better. However, the anecdote came to a cessation as soon as it really got gripping. Sorry if it’s not too helpfull I’m not into spoilers.

of such an enigmatic historical figure - it may not be proper, but it’s
a lot of fun nonetheless. The acting is kindly - Gwyneth Paltrow is
glorious, Judi Dench is wonderful, Geoffrey Hasten is hilarious, and
Joseph Fiennes is the hottest thing to near along since his older
brother! I appreciate the ending especially - Twelfth Night is my favorite
Shakespearean play, and the last line unprejudiced speaks volumes: “For
she will be my heroine for all time, and her name will be Viola.”
Perhaps the best thing about the film is the map it blends comedy and
tragedy together in such a bittersweet diagram.

One final note: I too
was surprised that this film won Best Narrate, because I also loved
Saving Private Ryan. Both films were cinematic masterpieces of very
different kinds, and both were equally estimable. I’m happy the Academy
shook things up a dinky.bfounded while the final credits rolled. Marc
Norman and Tom Stoppard must have loved their subject matter,
researched the period with zeal as well as having the ability to
create a racy romantic drama.

The whole thing was created
out of the barest glimmer of fact concerning Shakespeare’s life. It
focuses on the gap between his marriage in London as a young man and
his eventual return to London as a successful playwright. The theory
states that “suffering is the mother of creativity”, so
Young William must have had a stout deal of hardship indeed. Hence,
the opportunity for a amazing movie to be made.

A handsome
young Shakespeare is introduced to us during a unlit period of
writer’s block. He is portrayed as any other writer we could imagine;
poor, horny, suffering from professional jealousy and not particularly
respectable. He’s over-committed to two theatres and selling vaporware
for all he’s worth. Poorly named vaporware at that, “Romeo and
Ethyl the Pirate’s Daughter”.

But fate has more in store
for this hopeful scribbler than even he would dream. Enter stage left,
the fancy of his life, in the guise of an actor, shyly auditioning for
a section in his unusual play. (Shades of Blackadder here) . He is immediately
taken by this youthfull stage strutter because of a seeming preference
for Bill’s work over that of the leading playwright of the day,
Christopher Marlowe.

This interest takes him to the actor’s
home, where Tomas Kent transforms himself into Viola De Lesseps the
refined daughter of a wealthy merchant. This magic act is only
possible because of the artful protection offered by Viola’s nurse and
part time confidant, played by Imelda Staunton. And as with Clarke
Kent, no one can penetrate the cunning disguise of Mr Thomas Kent,
except for a safe ferryman. And it is this very ferryman that puts
William on the legal path in his pursuit of the lady Viola.

And so we pick up the privilege of watching William Shakespeare give
birth to the Renowned Romeo and Juliet as a counterpoint to his torrid
and perilous affair with a woman betrothed to Lord Wessex; one of the
most influential and worthy men in the city. The ups and downs, ins
and outs of this relationship, and its eventual destroy, are all
delightful to witness as well as being grist for the mill of
Shakespeare’s future plays.

For anyone that has even a passing
familiarity with the Bard’s work or unbiased likes a wonderful romance, take
the time to appreciate this special movie. In fact, assume a few times
because it gets better with every viewing.

I honestly did not know what to demand when I first sat down to gaze “Shakespeare In Fancy.” Perhaps that was for the best, since this film teems with unexpected moments and twists, turning literary history upside down and giving it a clever and bawdy twist.

Gywenth Paltrow plays a young noblewoman who is expected to be demurely betrothed, but who wants none of the life ahead of her. She yearns for the theater, and, in her headstrong, ambitious drive, dresses like a boy to get a fraction in Will Shakespeare’s newest drama. Of course, the two topple in treasure (hence the title!) and their duplicity leads to state complications that procure more and more scandalous. Literary jokes abound, but you don’t need to know a whit about Shakespeare to be pleased this romp. This is a romantic comedy cloaked in Elizabethian times, an anachronism that is thoroughly satisfying.

Paltrow’s Viola is gutsy, quick-witted, and torn, a portrayal that deservedly earned her an Oscar. Joseph Fiennes makes a lovable, bumbling Will Shakespeare. The two point to a chemistry that brings the witty script to life and elevates this film to a level above most romantic comedies.

This film should appeal to a wide range of viewers - even those who hated studying Shakespeare in school.
